When I visited our family house in the countryside, in my grandmother’s village, I noticed in the old stables two little bird nests, on each side of one of the beams that hold the ceiling together.
I remember the bird nests that my grandparents had in their own stables when I was a child, always populated with noisy little swallows and sparrows that would entertain the horse and the three cows. I still hold very tight to that fascinated mind I had when I’d look at those nests made of clay and dry grass, all mixed together in a form that would hold an entire bird family together.
For some reason, the sight of the two abandoned bird nests I recently saw in the stables made me think about all the ways that we always gather different things, of different forms and textures and patterns, mix and sculpt them together into something that protects, guards and keeps in good shape until it can grow further.
The nest as a form of protection and guardianship is enclosing all the things that really matter, all the things that we hold dear and we hold them close. All the emotions, our experiences, our loved ones, our most precious assets.
The relaxed and cozy mood that defined the previous playlist in Chance (the 17th edition) continues in the current edition, the 18th LAUREL Monthly Soundlust. That sense of hominess and togetherness, that yearning for some form of affection and loving energy, all are encompassed in this latest music collection – Nest.
I hope you find inspiration and it accompanies you in sweet & tender moments in the heart of whatever feels more home to you.
